The Importance of Community Involvement
Ioana et al. (2015, p. 619) explain that “Research promotes the maintenance of groups of researchers in the latest scientific knowledge while stimulating the development of scientific reasoning of those involved, teachers and students.” This paper, entitled “The Importance of Community Involvement in Research and Innovation between 2014–2020”, was presented at the (WCETR-2014). The report examines projects that support smart specialisation. The aim of this project was to engage communities and facilitate procedures regarding the formation of research and innovation strategies for smart specialisation.
Training and learning environments
The authors concluded that “Human resources training process is required to be rethought and oriented toward developing new skills and abilities that allow an understanding of change as an opportunity with the opening to new ideas in a cultural diversity in the new knowledge-based society.” (Ioana et al. 2015, p. 622) ONLINE S3 aims at providing this training and learning environment to facilitate the creation of new ideas and entrepreneurial discovery for a knowledge-based economy.
