In the autumn 2016 edition of Panorama, the European Union (EU) Urban Agenda, which was developed by the Amsterdam Pact, is discussed. This report suggests how the agenda will improve the lives of stakeholders in the EU. Furthermore, this edition illuminates how the European Commission’s actions promote the economy with a focus on minimizing waste and encouraging sustainability. Successful projects implemented in Puglia in Italy are presented.

The magazine considers the progress in smart specialisation strategies (S3). In the section, “In Your Own Words”, stakeholders from Finland, Germany, Portugal and Sweden discuss smart specialisation. The project section of this issue covers contributions from Greece and the Baltic Region. Additionally, a green mobility solution in the Netherlands is discussed.

Online S3’s contribution

Online S3 will provide “use cases” on behalf of our pilot regions – Region of Central Macedonia, Scotland, Northern Netherlands and Galicia – how developed applications for smart specialisation can be used.
