What Can We Learn from Insects?
Biology and Medicine
The Research EU results magazine begins with “What Can We Learn from Insects?”, where an interview with Dr Inon Scharf is conducted regarding the topic of “studying insects’ response to short-term climate events”. In addition, many more articles concerning maggots, beetles and many more insects are published. The “Biology and Medicine” section of the magazine includes an article about how prenatal famine exposure has sex-specific impacts on the size of the brain.
Energy and Transport
The “Energy and Transport” section discusses the branching out into new bioenergy supplies. In detail, the EUROPRUNING project applied a pruning-to-energy value chain by introducing new technology and by eliminating barriers to the use of agricultural residues as an energy resource. In the “Industrial Technologies” section, an article explains that the HALO project extended its existing laser technology for material processing to make more adaptable opinions, increasing operational quality and speed, whilst reducing overall cost.
Food and Agriculture
The “Food and Agriculture” section discusses a project that completed the development of a precision agriculture Decision Support System that allows growers to benefit from innovative developments in irrigation technology.
